New Magnetic Fields
I just picked this album up and so far I'm very impressed. It hasn't latched on to me like i or 69 Love Songs, but it is still catchy and poppy. Check out "California Girls," which will definitely be in my head when I walk to class today

The Teenagers: Still Waiting
I'm still streaming Reality Check on The Teenagers' MySpace. It's coming out March 18, unless you live in the U.K., where you'll get it a day earlier.
I can't wait to see what the packaging looks like. What are The Teenagers without .gifs?
Have you pre-ordered it yet?

Bros Will be Bros: Melbourne Party Bro
You know the story: some bro throws a party that gets out of control, he gets busted by the police, fined $20,000 (wtf?!), and won't pick up the phone when his parents call.
Best quote he could have said after the reporter GRILLED him: 'It was the best party ever.'
I hope he gets endorsed by the glasses company after this video.

Rock of Love 2: FINALLY
Rock of Love is FINALLY back after Brett and Jess just couldn't make it work.
For those of you who missed the season premiere on Sunday, I'm sorry. This season looks like it is going to be just as trashy as the last (thank you God). A girl passed out and couldn't wake up in time for the first elimination, there could be a possibility of someone being a post-op tranny, and there is a new Rodeo (who is going to be making an appearance later this season).
My favorite on this first episode is Megan, but that is subject to change. I'm not sure if Jess was my favorite to start last season, but I was pulling for her for over half a season.
Brett had to get bigger bandannas to cover his even more receding hairline.

Dr. Dog
As I see it, Dr. Dog is one of the most under appreciated artists that I can think of off-hand. They are ridonk good in the studio and put on a great live show. I saw them open for a sort-of popular Austin band and Dr. Dog just blew them away. It was kind of like that scene in the VH1 MC Hammer movie where the acts get really mad that Hammer is hyping the crowd up too much, but he only knows one speed. Basically, Dr. Dog is the ‘60s-pop inspired MC Hammer.
I saw a little bit of their set at Austin City Limits, but I arrived too late. If you see them on the schedule of the festival you are going to, I would definitely stop by for a few songs.
Cool Fact: They performed at 2007's Lebowski Fest in Louisville, Ky., doing some of their own songs as well as some songs from the film.

Tyra is Ridonk
I know this is old, but I was just reminded of it. I would be pissed if I went to one of those 'gift' episodes of some talk show and got VASELINE, no matter what the container cost. I think I would be more pumped if they gave me a coupon booklet.
Might as well throw these in

Guitar Hero: Air Guitar
I sort of wish they had some quality control over who could buy this thing. I know I could rock the house down with one of these, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to see the little bastards at the mall rocking out at the Apple Store when I'm waiting my turn at the Genius Bar.
It seems like nuclear power: it can be used for good or evil.
Quote that makes the clip: "So we took the air guitar phenomenon, which is this." as he demonstrates what an air guitar is.
What did this guy do to land this gig? How can I sign up to be the next to demonstrate to air guitar phenomenon?

The Unicorns are one of the best "Whatever happened to them?" bands I have ever heard. I'm kind of upset that I'll probably never be able to see them live, but thaaaaaaaat's life!
But seriously... Whatever happened to them?

Bros Will be Bros: End of an Era for Gate House

The last all male dorm, Gate House, at Victoria University, known for being "rowdy,” “annoying,” “childish,” and “loud and obnoxious.” has gone coed.
Quote that makes the article: It was raining, so no one else really wanted to get involved,” [Freshman Grayson Lee] said over the phone from Peterborough. “So it was just me out there for a couple of hours at one in the morning, in the rain, building an 8-foot snow penis.”
Hidden Gem: The president of Victoria University's last name is "Gooch." (ha.)

Justice in Austin
So I finally have a really big show to look forward to in Austin-- Justice is playing at Stubbs on March 3. This might be one of those shows that you buy two tickets for and bring a date in hopes that she'll 'appreciate it' the same way that you do. Should I do a Facebook search under music for "Justice?"
Does anyone know what the title of their album is? I've heard people say 'self-titled' and 'cross.' Will this album forever be known as 'You know, the one with 'D.A.N.C.E.' on it?'
Some mp3s just so I can finally have Justice on this blog because everyone else does:

American Gladiators
They have really found a way to get those of us who grew up on GUTS to get excited about TV again.
I'm not sure sure if I am enjoying this show in the way it was 'meant to be enjoyed,' but I really feel the need to buy a Toyota Tacoma after watching, so they must be doing something right.
I'm not really interested in the compeition of the show as much as the gladiators themselves (read: Wolf and Titan). I would definitely love to see a 30 minute sitcom before the actual show about the week leading up to it. It would be like The Real World meets Friends meets True Life: I'm an American Gladiator.
If you watched Monday night's episode, you would have met the contestant Jeff "Big Country" Chapman who compared the earthquake event to pig wrestling at the fair. When you heard his nickname, did you automatically think of the band Big Country (You know the one where the lead singer killed himself a few years ago)?

A Tyte Soulja Boy Remix
I was hanging out this weekend, just checking Hypemachine for Crank Dat by Soulja Boy (everyones favorite fall2k7 jam) and stumbled upon this remix. This is a very CD-R friendly track from Luminfire/Bagraiders.
Side note: When I checked out Soulja Boy's Last.fm bio it said he was only 17 years old. Christ alive. That's badass; I can tell why he has so many haters. It makes the line 'I got me some babies made' all the more taboo.

Seel Fresh: We Could Probably be BFF
So this dude, Seel Fresh, seems pretty dope or at least the kind of music you could turn your bass up to +6 in your car's sound settings when you cruised with your bros (if you didn't have a sub).
This song Drinkalot relates to my lifestyle in the same way that True Life: I'm an Alcoholic kind of scared me. I didn't see it but it convinced a bro to have a Sober'08, so I don't think I'm ready to see it.
His other tracks deserve a listen, too, but just check out the MySpace.

Matt Bonner: One Chilled Out Bro

This guy is probably my favorite 'indie' professional athlete. If you live in south Texas and attend music festivals, you'll probably see Matt Bonner chillin'. There's been Bonner-spottings at Austin City Limits and Fun Fun Fun Fest and I'm sure there will be SXSW sighting .
Quick Fact: His seating section at the AT&T Arena in San Antonio is called 'Matt Bonner's Wicked Awesome Section'
Quicker Fact: His 'must see act' at Fun Fun Fun Fest was Okkervil River.
I hope he gets more playing time.

Filipino Fisting
DJ Jester The Filipino Fist is bro with a sense of humor.
Check him out in Norway:
"I was in Europe, so I thought I'd play Europe." - his response when I told him how tyte that was.
I saw him playing at an art museum and he was giving away DJ Jester wooden nickels. Pretty badass merch.
Check him out entertaining kids in Austin. (Great Eddie Murphy humor)
Don't forget to send him a friend request
